Ok, so what did I think of the Oscars this year? For the most part, I enjoyed it all. I appreciated the fact that Danny Boyle got his for Slumdog, and Kake Winslet got hers, but I’ll have to come back to that later. I guess what shocked me the most was the fact that Mickey Rourke got shafted for his performance in The Wrestler. I know we all knew what the main point of the movie was, but you had to give it up to him for protraying a real life character in a such a relaistic way that can touch you. Not one actor had to play a role which didn’t either involve a real person or an individual from a fantasy tale.
I had the opportunity to watch mostly all the movies that were recognized this year, so it was that much harder for me to make up my mind completely in certain categories. The again, this was one of the few times where I was able to make an equal subjective opinion for most categories.
If you had the chance to read my blog a few months ago, you read what I thought about The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I was absoletly blown by that movie and still am to this day. In my honest opinion, if I never saw The Wrestler, I would’ve given the Best Performace by an Actor to Brad Pitt. Not only did he have to play an elderly man, but he also had to play a child, a teenager and an adult. He had to personify many different ages all throught the film, and depict what it was like for someone to go through lifes changes backwards. I believe he had the toughest role out of any of the nominees.
Now, going back to Kate Winselt. I’m thrilled she finally was able to win Best Actress, but I felt that she won for the wrong movie. The Reader an astonishinging movie non-the less, but her performance in Revolutionary Road far surpassed what she did in The Reader. Her and Leonardo chemistry in front of the camera just added a cherry to the top of everything. BTW, if you haven’t seen Revolutionary Road I suggest you do so. The real winner for Best Supporting Actor was in this movie.
Moving forward LOL. Michael Shannon got robbed!!!! Plain and simple. I’m probably the biggest Batman fan out ther, but Heath ledger did NOT deserve to win Best Supporting Actor. He did a fantastic job protraying the Joker, but Michael Shannon did a better job protraying a mental patient living in an “ordinary” neighborhood. I believe Heath victory was due to symphathy by the academy and the expectation that they would hand it over to him, because he died shortly after the filming of the movie.
Best Picture? What can I say? I was torn. I loved Benjamin Button and I also loved Slumdog. There really isn’t much to say about this, because at the end of the night: both movies were well deserving.
This years awards seemed to go by much quicker than the previous award. Maybe due to the fact that there were many skits all throughout. Who knows? All I say is that I enjoyed it, and I hope next years movies will move and inspire me as much as this year has.
P.S. Look out for Jaime Foxx’s new movie, The Soloist. It looks VERY promising.

So, I got to check out today’s episode and all I have to say is this: WOW!!!!
This episode will NOT disappoint. I will get straight to the point, and avoid the build up this time around.
-Jack meets Jin in the jungle. Jin is wearing a Dharma suit holding a gun.
-When Jack goes back to the island, he has to bring something back with him. Ms. Hawking give it to Jack. Can you guys guess what it is? We saw this item MANY times before.
-In this episode will be find out how the oceanic 6 will get back to the island, but not everyone will get to the island together. They will come back in groups.
- Will we finally get a chance to meet Jack’s grandfather.
I do suggest you pay EXTRA close attention when you see the scene with Jack’s grandfather.

First, I want to apologize for not updating my blog every week. I’ve been a little busy with some stuff and had to prioritize.
There’s just so much to mention and I feel like there isn’t enough time for me to put it down in one sitting. This season is by far one of the more interesting one.
Someone posted an article interviewing Daniel Dae Kim about him and the “smoke monster”. Now, before I go into the smoke monster I just want to say that in order for someone to understand what the purpose of the smoke monster actually is, they would have to watch some videos. Unfortunately I don’t have these videos. I will say this though. The smoke monster is a type of “security system”.
In episode 5 reunites us with the one and only Christian Shepard. And yes, he is just as elusive as he’s ever been. We will also get to see Mrs. Hawkings again. She was the chick who spooked Desmond out when she professed all these future events to him.
There really much to expect from this episode. We will come back with more question than answers. I won’t watch tonights show for another few hours ( It’s 1:28pm right now in NYC). If all goes well, I will have already seen tonights show by 4pm.
For all my NT heads. I will be back hopefully around the time the shows officially airs, and I will be able to give some insight. I’m just not sure right now if I will be out by that time or not. But I will drop some insights and hints later this week for sure.
I apologize again.
P.S. Mrs. Hawkings is actually Eloise Hawking. Also, the characters I mentioned back in my last LOST post wont show up till episode 6. Around mid-season we will also get to see Marvin Candle aka Halliwax aka Chang. We will also get to see Jacks grandfather (which should be interesting).

Okay, so today is the beginning of my new life. I’m sitting here in my dark room just thinking and trying to reflect upon the things I want. Some of the stuff I thought of made me realize just how much I didn’t want them in the first place. For the past month or so since the school break I’ve been having trouble sleeping. I guess I can clinically be considered an Insomniac? Not too sure about that, because I’ve been getting close to around 2-3 hours of sleep (thats if I get any sleep).
I’m tired of living my life way I used to. Just waiting for things to happens. Everyone keeps telling, “If its meant to be, then it’ll happen.” This is what I don’t get. If it’s meant to be then does that mean I should sit around all day and not do anything while I wait for something good to happen? I don’t buy into that bullshit. I still have to go out and do my part and make things happen for myself.
Through all of this, I started to remember my senior year of HS. I guess that was really best time of my young adult life thus far. I was doing all the things that I wanted to do, and felt productive while doing them. I was in great shape, and felt good about myself. Thinking about that made me decided to first go back to the gym and clean myself out. Detox my body of all the shit I put in it, and start taking care of myself. I’m going to go back to my strict diets and exercise routines.
Since November, I haven’t drank any sort of liqour or smoked cigarettes or weed. I’m going to lie and say that it was easy, because it wasnt. Not a day went by that I didn’t have the urge to light one up and be dependant of something so insignificant to aleave my stress. Learning to quit cigarettes was probably one of the hardest things that I had to overcome. It’s been almost been 2 months, and I’ve managed to keep my body clean. I’m not saying I’m going to completely live my life kosher, because I do enjoy having a beer during some occasions.
I made a promise to myself that by the Summer I would weigh 165lbs. I weigh close to 185lbs. I figure if I can knock a a goal of losing down, then I can practically do whatever I want to do.

So, today is the big day! Lost seaosn 5 is finally here and some of us have more questions than answer. For all the people on NT. I will be posting from this blog from now on. I’ve stated all the reason towards why I’m doing this, so just refer to the earlier pages of the thread. Now onto the spoilers…I know you guys don’t want to drag this on any further.
This season will focus on the Oceanic 6 and their journey towards getting back on the island. The islander are still alive, but they’re traveling “across” time. This sounds a little weird, but you’ll know what I’m talking about after the 3rd episode.
The first episode will show the islander and how they’re affected by the movement of the island. We see Ben and Jack get together and figure out how to get back onto the island with Locke’s body. We’re going to be introduced to a few new character are well.
Cesear – An enigmatic individual with a dark past. Very smart and very dangerous.
Ilanna- A European in her 20′s. She seems very maniputalive and we wont know her intentions till mid season.
Martha- An young Asian women who is a scientist. She was working on a huge project, but stopped because she started questioning her actions and believes.
Dan- An attorney who will be another re-occurring character. He seems to be a good guy, but don’t let the looks fool you.
What to look for-
-The way islander are reacting towards the island.
-The opening scene is VERY strange, but doesn’t seem that way. You might have to check it out more than once.
-Pay attention to Jack and his mannerism. A lot of them don’t seem to be the same.
That’s all for now. The first episode doesn’t have as many Easter Eggs as most of the season openers had. The action and enigma will pick up mid-season.
ENJOY!

What does it take to find a lost love? There are many answers and possibilities to this question, but Slumdog Millionaire briliantly lays out a masterful blueprint to this question. When I first heard of this movie in November I was a little apprehensive with it. A part of me thought it would be just like any other. After seeing it again and again, I’m glad I was able to approach this movie the way I did.
I was able to see a different side of India in which I’ve never seen before. A way that managed to touch my heart and feel the emotions of the characters throughout. We follow the life of Jamal Malik (Dev Patel), a street kid (or “slumdog”) who has landed an appearance on India’s version of the hit TV game show WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE? Jamal exceeds expectations on the show, and the producers alert the police after they become suspicious of his methods. The young contestant is subsequently arrested and is interrogated at the hands of a nameless police inspector (played by Bollywood star Irfan Khan).
SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is a tightly woven story that has been expertly edited into shape. The contrast between Jamal’s upbringing and his chance of escaping it on the show are adeptly juxtaposed. Mumbai is portrayed as a place of terrifying poverty and unforgettable brutality, and Jamal and his brother get into a never-ending succession of challenging situations.
What I found to be most brilliant is how the movie ties together Jamal’s life experiences with the answers to the questions he’s given. We witness the growth of a human being. Not just physically, but emotionally.
Although I’ve thought to myself half-way through this movie that it strikingly reminds me of “City of God”. Another familiar story of two close friends growing up in the slums of Brazil. One turns to a life of crime, while the other dwells on the opposite side of the spectrum. Leaving us to witness their growth.
Slumdog Millioanaire is although in a class of it’s own that far surpasses any similarities of the latter. I wouldn’t be surprised if this lands Best Picture for this year’s Academy Awards.

I don’t know why, but I sort of felt the need to talk about this movie. After a few weeks of putting it off I decided to finally check it out. Watching the trailers a few months ago and hearing the story I sort of knew that this movie was going to be good, but I had no idea that it was going to this THIS good.
There are many movies that you watch and come out of the theaters telling yourself just how good of a movie that was, but then you have movies like this. The type that makes you think about what you’ve seen. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button did that for me.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button will be talked about for decades to come, and Brad Pitt’s performance was spectacular. His performance will be talked about amongst our children and future generations. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him portray a character as well as he did playing Benjamin Button. With that in mind…The Oscar for Best Actor??
That’s how well he performed in this movie. This performance far surpasses anything he’s done so far. Babel, Fight Club, Interview With the Vampire, Se7en, Twelve Monkeys and Legends of the Fall all fail to match his performance in this picture.
As much as I enjoyed watching this movie, I couldn’t help but to notice a few things.
Half-way through I couldn’t help but to notice how similar this movie is to Forrest Gump…
1. Main character is born with a disability.
2. Enters a major war, while showing the audience key events throughout history.
3. Main romance fails to reciprocate his love, and finally when the love is reciprocated there isn’t much time for the relationship to develop.
4. The ending is very heartfelt, and leaves you with sorrow for the main character.
Even though there are a few similarities to Forrest Gump(same screenwriter as TCBB), this movie stand out in a class of it own.
I recommenced that everyone does themselves a favor, and watch this movie. It may change the way you perceive life.
